The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle is set to take place this coming weekend. However, there has been a significant change to the line-up. Singer Freya Ridings, who was due to perform, announced that she would be unable to perform due to being unwell. The BBC confirmed the news and announced that Zak Abel would be replacing the 29-year-old artist. Abel, who has collaborated with Gorgon City, Kygo and Tom Misch, is honoured to be included in the celebrations.
Zak Abel has faced several hurdles in his career, most notably being diagnosed with otosclerosis, which can lead to hearing loss, when he was just 21. Despite this, he has managed to achieve success in the competitive world of music and is excited to be performing at such a historic event.
The Coronation Concert will be held outside Windsor Castle and boasts a star-studded line-up. Take That, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are all confirmed to be playing, alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, Steve Winwood and Chinese pianist Lang Lang. DJ Pete Tong will also be performing his Ibiza Classics collection, and there will be a spoken word performance from Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor.
In addition to these performances, a host of famous faces will appear in video segments to share facts about the newly-crowned King and Queen. Hollywood star Tom Cruise is set to make a surprise appearance, alongside Dame Joan Collins, Sir Tom Jones, Bear Grylls and former Strictly star Oti Mabuse. Beloved children’s character Winnie the Pooh will also be making an appearance to share a fact, which is set to rival the Queen’s iconic skit with Paddington Bear ahead of the Party at the Palace Concert held during her Platinum Jubilee.
Despite the change to the line-up, the Coronation Concert is sure to be a once in a lifetime event, filled with music, entertainment and surprises.
