After being eliminated from the playoffs, LeBron James has been spending his free time with family and attending graduation ceremonies. On Saturday, he attended Chaminade High School’s graduation ceremony in West Hills, CA, where Auston Mims, his “nephew,” was graduating as part of the Class of 2023. Although it is unclear if they are biologically related, Auston appears to be the son of LeBron’s longtime friend and business partner Randy Mims.
LeBron watched Auston receive his high school diploma and tried to keep a low profile while doing so. He was seen checking his phone and keeping his head down during the ceremony. Although he seemed to be alone in the videos obtained by TMZ, eyewitnesses confirmed that he was actually there with family and friends.
LeBron stands out at about 6’9″ and eventually parked himself in a seat, but people still approached him for handshakes and to say hello. This is the second graduation ceremony that LeBron has attended in recent weeks, having just attended his own son’s graduation on Thursday.
As LeBron considers his future in basketball, attending these important family events may be at the forefront of his thoughts. If he was still actively playing, it is possible that he may have missed these moments. However, with his current free time, he has been able to attend and support those close to him.
Overall, LeBron’s attendance at these graduation ceremonies highlights the importance of family and the value of being present for life’s big moments.
