Kris Jenner, the 67-year-old Kardashian family matriarch, recently claimed credit for the creation of the Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia, a part-pizza, part-sandwich entrée in the Cool Ranch flavor. Although Jenner claimed that the idea for the partnership came from her, the claim was met with skepticism by Instagram users who found the story hard to believe.
In an Instagram ad for the product, Jenner stated that the idea for the Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia was all hers. She explained that she was on her way to a meeting with one of her daughters when she reached for a bag of Doritos Cool Ranch from her purse at the exact same time she passed the popular pizza franchise. Jenner claimed that she immediately stopped the car, called her kids, and said, “Your mom just came up with the best idea ever.”
Although Jenner’s claim was met with skepticism by some Instagram users, her fans came to her defense, claiming that she is just doing good business. Some even joked that they believed her “whole” story. However, this is not the first time that the Kardashian family has faced criticism for their food collaborations. In March, Kourtney Kardashian was criticized for keeping food on her bathroom floor during her 2022 photo shoot for the plant-based chicken brand Daring. And in 2017, Kendall Jenner faced backlash for starring in a notoriously tone-deaf commercial for Pepsi that trivialized the Black Lives Matter movement.
Despite the criticism, the Kardashian family continues to be successful in their business ventures, including their food collaborations. While some may be skeptical of Jenner’s claim, it is clear that her business savvy has helped her family become one of the most recognizable brands in the world.
