Hailey Bieber has called on her fans to end the online bullying towards her husband’s ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. In an Instagram story, the Rhode founder pleaded with her followers to stop leaving “mean or rude comments” under anyone’s posts. She stated that she does not support or condone hateful or nasty comments and that those leaving such comments are not supporting her. Bieber went on to say that if fans are participating in this kind of behaviour, they are a part of a culture she wants no part of. She ended her post by asking fans to “please be nice or don’t say anything.”
Selena Gomez’s latest post filled with hateful remarks
Hailey’s post comes after Selena Gomez’s latest post was filled with hateful remarks. Many accused her of being jealous of Hailey and her husband, Justin Bieber, who is also Selena’s ex. Trolls left comments calling Gomez a “master of manipulation” and telling her to “grow up”. Several other commentators left pig, snake and vomiting emojis.
Gomez and Bieber’s history of online feuding
This is not the first time that Hailey and Selena have been involved in online feuding. In March, Gomez had to urge her own fans to stop sending “death threats” to Hailey Bieber online. Gomez added that “no one” should experience “hate or bullying” and she doesn’t “stand for” it. At the time, Hailey had been getting bombarded with hateful messages amid rumours of a beef with the Rare Beauty founder. Many believed that Hailey shaded Gomez in a now-deleted video where she mouthed the words to a viral audio clip that stated, “I’m not saying she deserved it, but God’s timing is always right.”
Hailey denied that the audio was aimed at Gomez and stated that she never comments on this type of thing, but that they were just having a girls’ night and did a random Tik Tok sound for fun. To make matters worse, Hailey and her close pal Kylie Jenner were then accused of mocking Gomez’s eyebrow trouble. Fans also shared unfounded theories that Hailey was copying Selena’s life.
Celebrities continue to be the target of online bullying and hate, and Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber’s online feuding is a prime example of this. Both women have called for an end to hate and bullying, but it seems that their fans are not always listening. It is important to remember that behind every celebrity is a person who feels the impact of online hate and bullying. It is time for fans to put an end to online bullying and hate and to spread kindness instead.
